MHLS 2000 – Integrated Mobile Helium Fill & Sniff Leak Detection Station
Flexible sniffer leak test solution that combines tracer gas filling, evacuation, sniffer leak detection and PLC-guided controlled workflow in one compact industrial unit—reducing user error to ensure reliable, repeatable leak location.
The MHLS 2000 is a fully integrated mobile helium leak detection station combining tracer gas filling, evacuation, sniffer-based detection and PLC-guided operator workflow in a compact industrial system. Designed for controlled leak detection in production environments, it delivers reliable and operator-independent results directly on the shop floor.
In many manufacturing settings, mobile leak detection relies on standalone sniffer devices supported by external filling equipment and manual process coordination. This setup often leads to variable gas conditions, inconsistent test sequences and extended troubleshooting times. The MHLS 2000 eliminates this separation by unifying filling and detection within one mobile unit.
Manufacturers benefit from faster leak detection, shorter production downtime, and less false scrap.
From Detection to Controlled Leak Testing
The MHLS 2000 manages the entire leak testing sequence through an integrated PLC (Siemens TIA Portal). Defined filling duration, stabilization time and leak detection phase are executed according to programmed logic, reducing operator influence compared to purely manual leak detection.
This structured workflow reduces variability in test execution and ensures reproducible conditions for mobile helium leak detection. Typical manual errors — such as incorrect gas concentration, insufficient stabilization time or premature termination — are minimized through software-controlled process guidance.
Key MHLS 2000 system capabilities include:
- User administration with different authorization levels
- Up to 50 different test parameter sets
- Automatic evacuation and filling process
- Minimum filling time (safe filling of the test specimen)
- Minimum mixing time (safe uniform gas concentration in the entire component)
- Minimum sniffing time (no premature termination of the measurement process possible)
- Refill helium if leakage is very high
- Number of limit leakage rates exceeded
- Curve progression can be exported (for measurement tests and analyses)
- Manual mode
A Variety of Ideal Industry Applications
The MHLS 2000 is primarily used for rework in serial production lines, where rapid and structured leak detection is essential to limit downtime and stabilize output. It also supports maintenance tasks and system qualification during production ramp-up and plant operation.
Typical industries include HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) and heat pump manufacturing, semiconductor production, white goods manufacturing, automotive HVAC assemblies, data center cooling systems, agricultural equipment and general industrial machinery.

Designed for Industrial Production Environments
The MHLS 2000 is designed for flexible deployment in industrial production areas. Thanks to its slim, compact design, it can be transported through standard industrial doors and positioned directly on the production line. The robust mobile frame integrates gas bottle mounting and storage compartments, allowing autonomous operation in changing production environments. Operation via 230 V single-phase power simplifies installation and enables temporary or decentralized use without additional infrastructure.

Purpose-Built for the Demanding, Continuous Use
The MHLS 2000 supports helium and forming gas (5% H₂ / 95% N₂) sniffer testing with automatically regulated pressure ranges. Detection limits down to 10⁻⁶ mbar·l/s (specifics depending on test volume and configuration) make this system purpose-built for demanding industrial applications. The system is designed for 3 shift operation and maintains high technical availability under continuous use.
The standard configuration includes a fully featured purge gas detector that can process high gas concentrations in minutes. This is the same technology used in our purge gas testing systems. Consequently, this detector can also serve as an emergency backup for helium integral systems during inline production. It reliably prevents persistent or long-lasting contamination caused by excessively high gas concentrations, which are usually caused by massive leaks and occur with simple helium detectors (quartz windows, etc.).
By combining mobile deployment with defined process control, the MHLS 2000 closes the gap between purely manual sniffing and fixed leak testing cells.
